Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is a treatment to remove the gallbladder. The procedure is done using a minimally invasive technique called “laparoscopy.” The gallbladder may need to be removed for different reasons, such as abdominal pain from the gallbladder, or if there are symptomatic gallstones, or to treat cholecystitis, which is inflammation of the gallbladder.
